The word “free” is extremely subjective in a world where we have to pay even for drinking water. If you’re into budgeting, you would understand that we can only manage expenses in the areas of entertainment and food. Other necessities like rent, utilities, and health are non-negotiable. That’s why I researched ways to cut down on expenses by trying out activities that are fun and comparatively less expensive than others. We don’t need to splurge to have the happy hormones flow. Okay, so here is the list of free things I thoroughly enjoyed, and I bet you won’t regret giving them a try.
- Movie Nights at Home
Movie nights are my absolute favourite. We already have access to several free movie streaming platforms. Turn the lights off, put your dim lights on, make popcorn and drinks and voila! Enjoy the movie night with your friends/family.
- Hot bath/shower by candlelight
Recently, I have become a fan of slow and intentional living. Bathing or showering by candlelight helps you relax, even better if you opt for natural scented candles made of essential oils. You can even add bubbles to your bath. There you have it, mini aromatherapy! The whole process makes you slow down and be calm.
- Nearby Sightseeing
Travelling is great, but people have cliched travelling to famous tourist destinations. Have you ever taken a trip to your nearby places, unknown to the majority? I love the idea. I have explored and been taken aback by some nearby beautiful destinations, which have provided me with wonderful experiences. Pack your food and water, wear your comfy clothes and shoes, apply the sunscreen and you are ready!
- Swimming in the Ocean/River
Being in the water is one of the most inexplicable sensations I have ever experienced. Honestly, I don’t know how to swim, and I don’t go deep. I simply stay in the water, being pampered by the waves and taking deep breaths. Nature never ceases to surprise me.
- Balcony Date/Picnic
Sipping your favourite drink and chatting with your favourite ones on the balcony is quite underrated. In 2020, we all had been quarantined and going out was our last option. Picnics in the living room or on the balcony have made my day multiple times. Add some fairy lights, try a healthy recipe, and prepare some drinks to sip on.
There you go! You don’t have to be rich to lead a happy and peaceful life. All you need to do is add a pinch of excitement to it. I hope you try the above fun activities with your loved ones, and I would love to know your comments on your experiences.
