DIY Natural Homemade Deodorant Recipe

DIY Homemade Natural Deodorant

Let me tell you, for people like me, deodorant is inevitable, especially if you’re hustling through a commute five days a week. However, I’m genuinely scared and doubtful of the toxic ingredients in the store-bought ones, I mean you are putting them directly onto the skin. Not going to lie! My favorite deodorant is Pearl Beauty by Nivea, but I apply it on innerwear.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp shea butter
  • 3 tbsp arrowroot powder/cornstarch
  • 1 and a half tbsp baking soda
  • 2-3 drops 100% tea tree oil
  • 12-15 drops of lavender essential oil (or essential oil of your choice)

Deodorant neutralizes body odor, but it doesn’t necessarily act as perfume. I only realized this in 2022, and I discovered that we can DIY deodorant at home using natural ingredients, which was mind-blowing for me then. Also, I should mention, that it works almost as well as store-bought ones, and it’s non-toxic and easy to prepare.

Pouring Natural deodorant mixture into a jar

Lavender oil has a divine fragrance, Arrowroot powder helps to absorb moisture, Baking soda absorbs odors, Coconut and Tea tree oils possess anti-fungal & antibacterial properties, and Shea butter provides moisturization.

How to prepare:
Melt Shea butter and mix it with all other ingredients. Refrigerate the mixture for an hour, and you are good to go. You only need a pea-size of deodorant at a time.
Guess what! The deodorant works wonders for about 12 hours!

Note:
Please do a patch test before applying it on your armpits.
