Christmas is just around the corner, and guess what? my first-ever mini-Christmas tree is already up. Coming from a family where Christmas involves putting up a star in front of the house and eating plum cake, UAE has made me get into a full-on Christmas spirit. Even though I don’t do any extravaganza things, I love to make hot chocolate, topped with some marshmallows and decorated with a Peppermint Candy cane. As I mentioned earlier, this year, I’m grateful to set up a living Christmas tree/plant, that I have already decorated.
The next big things are receiving gifts from my colleagues and eating Elite Plum cake. Nom nom!
This blog is regarding the delicious and lazy hot chocolate that I have prepared, since 2018. We don’t have snow here, but, obviously the temperature drops. The recipe is easy to prepare, and the ingredients are super easy to find (I’m unsure of the Peppermint Candycane though!).
Ingredients :
1. Milk (Dairy or plant-based): 1 and a half cups
2. Dark chocolate: 35 gm ( I took Lindt 70% Cocoa dark chocolate)
3. Marshmallows : 3-4 pieces
4. Peppermint Candy cane: 1
How to prepare:
- Boil the milk by adding the chocolate pieces.
- Stir the mixture and let it simmer until the chocolate gets melted and mixed into the milk.
- Pour it into a mug and top it with the marshmallows. Add the Candycane to the hot chocolate and stir it as you take the sips.
I prefer Almond or Oat milk, without adding the sweetener, since the chocolate, marshmallows, and candy cane together add sufficient sweetness to the hot chocolate. The aroma of the chocolate and peppermint soothes your mood, and it’s pretty yummy too.
Making hot chocolate is a new-found family Christmas tradition, and I love it. I hope you will try it yourself and enjoy this winter time to the core. Please let me know your comments below. Merry Christmas!
